.notToo Long…. Not Too Short Either*

scene-transitionsVideo is nice but when editing, keep scenes short and informative to prevent boring shows that seem to keep on going and going. If you have a long scene, try to infuse some breaking transitions such as flashbacks that would make it a bit more interesting rather that have the whole shebang in one go. Use some graphics or audio descriptions to break up the monotony so your audience doesn’t get bored with all the same footage.
Start from the video taking by shifting or dividing shots into better ones. Cut and edit scenes that are too long but are hard to breakup, focusing on more interesting parts. Make old-style transitions by using paint and cardboard or use glass to simulate a floating title that seems to float out of nowhere. Have kids, use them for the transition titles for some family fun, you get your shot and get the whole family in the act. Backgrounds can be substituted but it’ll take a lot of time and effort so choose your shots wisely and bring out the creative side in you.
