Most problems with tech support regarding video and editing falls in the category of video card and associated drivers that have to be updated yet may not always be the best set-up. This is where one nifty ability of XP comes in, the driver rollback facility you see on your system setup which allows you to revert to an older driver that works after the new one tends to have messed up everything. Drivers for your video card are an essential part of the computer set-up, get the wrong driver and you get erratic performance form your machine.
Be sure you get your drivers from the manufacturer of the particular hardware for getting it from other sources may expose you to hidden dangers. You must also be very careful when selecting drivers for using the wrong one will completely mess up everything and you’d have to use the driver roll-back facility to get things back they used to be. One tip, back-up the registry before you do any modifications or even do a manual system restore point. That way, you can get back up and running even after you mess up with your system.
